Comeback Kid Presents | Travels with Limedrop

Last night we battled the rain and set sail to Fitzroy to see Limedrop’s Autumn/Winter collection for next season (thinking ahead is something we regularly have to practice when it comes to clothes!). Beer in hand, we shook off the raindrops and were excited to see that Nathan and Clea had waved their interior design wand and revamped their studio space into an awesome showroom. Below are a few sneak peek snaps of what we’ll have in store next season. Enjoy!

Season-in-season-out, Limedrop are regularly inspired by their travels (or travelling dreams!) and this season is no different. Going under the title The Adventurer this collection sees a New York couple take a trip to South America and each piece reflects different elements of that journey.

We were tempted to slip into this jumper last night considering the rainy and crisp weather that’s upon us.

This season Limedrop continue to play with digital prints. The print featured above is part mountain part Aztec and 100% awesome.

This is one seriously heavy strong-man bottle opener. He has little to do with clothes and a lot more to do with beer. Though we do like his red striped shorts and mo’.

Speaking of curiosities (and their studio is full of them) we couldn’t help but take a snap of this “green thumb” watering can. See what they did there?

Last but not least we’re a touch obsessed with this hooded vest. It’s reversible! Gorgeous green and mustard plaid on one side and the more traditional blue and red on the other makes it what we know will be a favourite piece in store come winter.

Beat of the Street | Parklife Looks

This is Pat sporting his CBK backpack and new favourite Handsom shirt. Represent!
Parklife saw us drag our camera out of its winter hibernation to snap the spring-time sartorial goodness amongst the crowd. Plaid is still major, Aztec inspired prints continue to stand out and camouflage is giving denim a run for its money. Here are a few of our favourite looks from Parklife (that we managed to capture before our camera died and we got too boozy)! I spy with my little eye…

What more does one want in a look? Nebular print, flying motorcycle, a total babe AND a polar bear necklace. Too good.

We can’t sing the praises of Doc Martens enough. I’ve had a pair (that I still wear weekly) for 13 years no jokes people. We suggest investing in some and preferably a colourful pair like the red goodies captured above.

How rad is this trio of friends? Electric bomber jacket, mentally cool backpack and Mr. Relaxed Vintage Shirt get our vote.

These guys were so effortless it hurt. Loving the muted, gently faded print of this shirt and how it’s framed by the vintage leather jacket. Sorry. When did I become a fashion writer?!

Not the best shot of this guy but essentially he was rocking one seriously rad layered look. Loving the boots over the trousers. I like to think he rode to Parklife on a horse.

It’s times like these that I kick myself for not owning bloody rad cons. Surely the best shoe for a festival? Loving the checkered print on these bad-boys.

Speaking of checkered this trapper is too fun. It was a touch chilly on Saturday so this guy battled the cold with a matching red parka. Nice!

This is like some kind of Fair Isle Aztec mash-up and we like it. Why not combined the best of prints from cultures past?

About Last Night | Parklife Reflections

We stole this photo from Oh Jamie! Love the big hug in the foreground.
Saturday saw two very excited Comeback Kid’s attend our fourth Parklife in as many years. Due to the aforementioned lack-of-clashes we had our day planned, champagne in hand (and on the tram) and a taste for (a few too many…) Red Bull and vodka’s. We walked straight in and straight up to the start of Little Dragon’s set; a blissful electro way to start the day. The sun was out but not quite enough to keep the cool at bay but this meant that intense dance moves weren’t met with sweaty regret but a good warm feeling. The cool kids watched on as Yukimi proved again that she’s not just a brilliant singer but mad-wicked at pulling shapes.
From there we had a few hours up our sleeve before we needed to cement our position for Santigold, so we planted ourselves firmly at the top of the hill pictured above and watched on. Katy B impressed with an enthusiastic set that got us up and dancing pretty fast. She was followed by a disappointing set from Mylo. Bless his cotton socks but I’d hardly call the man a DJ. This gave us time for a quick bite, more beverage consumption and time to head into THE SPOT OF GLORY before Santigold hit the stage. THE SPOT OF GLORY is a brilliant patch of grass up the back of the seated area that’s raised and spacious: you can see the stage and dance. Perfect. And for some reason it’s always quite empty?! Folks don’t know what they’re missing. Mylo ended his set with his single Drop The Pressure (obviously) and we got ready for Santigold fun.
Santigold was an exciting flurry of hit after hit. Her back-up dancers ensured the crowd followed suit and everyone was quickly up-and-moving. She didn’t disappoint and played every hit single finishing not on her own track but with Jay Z’s Brooklyn Go Hard on which Santi featured. Too fun. Diplo quickly took the stage and whipped everyone into some kind of mental frenzy. Not only is he a brilliant DJ (watch closely Mylo) but he knows how to work the crowd. It’s not so much that he drops tracks that everyone knows but it’s more that he quickly builds the tempo to a point where you can’t not dance. The sun had now fully set, the Red Bull had taken full effect and Parklife had really hit its stride. I’m still sore. Diplo fittingly closed his (truly brilliant) set with a blend of Katy B and Little Dragon; an apt ode to the day.
We collected our bags and departed THE SPOT OF GLORY for some time to reflect with Lykke Li. In many ways she performed the ultimate anti-music festival set; it was carefully paced, haunting, moody and less about moving, more about watching. Each song quietly blended into the next and with little brouhaha she wowed the crowd. Lykke closed her set with the considerably more up-beat Get Some to a very pleased (and charmed) audience.
